Art Direction, Pop Up Experience

Working for LS Group in Tokyo, I collaborated on in-house design for the foreign brands which the company represented. This included Le Labo, the Franco-American fragrance atelier recently acquired by Este Lauder. For Le Labo I was pleased to work on a variety of projects which included:

Interior Shop and Display Design- Working on both the main Le Labo atelier in the trendy Tokyo neighborhood of Daikanyama and pop-up shops throughout Japan, I handled both relating Le Labo’s design plans from the head office in France to original in store POP designed by our team in Tokyo. In my time with Le Labo Tokyo we opened 2 new shops and worked to place Le Labo in the best department stores of Japan such as Ginza Mitsukoushi.

Brand Awareness Events Planning- Creating events such as to introduce Gaiac, the Tokyo scent from the “City Exclusives” collection and coordinating the visits of Eddie and Fabrice to meet their fans, we always made a memorable party with on-brand activities such as cocktail mixologists using exotic spices of Le Labo.

Display designed for Le Labo
Display designed and built for a pop-up shop in the Ginza Mitsukoushi department store. The cast concrete elements of the logo were designed to fit fragrance strips. The material was perfectly fitting with the industrial feel of the Le Labo image. The scent being introduced was Rose 31, created for Kirsten Dunst by Le Labo while she was shooting Marie Antoinette in Versailles.

Committed to finding a way to cast concrete knowing it would be the perfect fit for Le Labo, I had no choice but to cast in my tiny Tokyo apartment as our corporate office building would not have worked out! Here are some process images.
